We Specialise In Preparing Learners For Careers In:
FORESTRY / CONSTRUCTION / COUNTRYSIDE services.
We offer a supportive and individual approach, to ensure learners gain the specific skills, knowledge and understanding to help them move on with their career.
Learners work through an individual ‘Personal Development plan’ to work towards their career goals and overcome any barriers such as ALN, confidence, essentials skills, sector specific experience.
Last year, 97% of learners gained a positive progression.
Who’s It For?
Young people (16-19) that cover ANY points below:
- Enjoy being active
- Are interested in a career in woodwork, gaining traditional skills, learning about sustainability / environment.
- Want to improve their confidence or skills such as planning, organisation, communication, leadership.
- Need to improve essential skills to progress
- Want to understand professional standards and gain employability skills.
How Can We Help?
We promise to treat each learner as an individual. Each Learner will have:

Qualification /Apprenticeship available after Job Growth Wales +:
- Level 2/3 NVQ Forest Industry
- Level 2/3 NVQ Carpentry and Joinery
- Level 2/3 NVQ Wood Product Manufacturing Operative
How It Works
- Learners attend Mon – Thur, 9.30am – 3.30pm at: The Good Wood Co. Holywell Town Football Club, Halkyn Road, CH8 7TZ
- Gain experience in ‘Traditional timber framing’
- Learners gain a level 1 NVQ qualification in Outdoor learning
- Opportunities to achieve Essentials Skills Qualifications in Application of Number / Communication Skills up to Level 2
- Local Placements, will be 30 hours weekly across Mon – Fri to be agreed with Employers.
- Learners re-imbursed £75.50 a week attendance (Including lunch) and travel costs re-imbursed.
